On this blog students in English/Environmental Studies 4120 at Western Michigan University Genevieve draw on Genevieve Guenther's The Language of Climate Politics: Fossil-Fuel Propaganda and How to Fight It to analyze the climate rhetoric and actions of the second Trump Administration. The Language of Climate Politics was published before President Trump was re-elected.
Students bring to bear their own knowledge, perspectives, ideas, and insights on what is currently happening with our
national government and climate change.
Despite the climate denial of the current administration, our course recognizes that now is a time of dire emergency for the Earth, a time when drastic and dramatic measures must be taken so that our planet remains livable. We draw on science, social science, and the power of the imagination to understand the global impact, history, politics, and ethics of the climate crisis. The course emphasizes the relatedness of all human and natural communities, the importance of climate justice, and a commitment to doing everything we can to preserve a habitable earth.
